A Place to Stay is the second of four quests offered by Clive, a quest giver in the village of Kintara south of Caemlyn.
Quest Summary[]
Clive sends the player to his friend Basel Gill in Caemlyn to get a rundown on how renting works. On returning, he will provide the player with starting funds so that they can rent when they finish playing.
Starting the Quest[]
Clive will greet a player when they enter the room, assuming that their level is not too high for his quests.
Saying 'quest' will result in Clive providing an explanation of your current task.

You say 'quest' Clive says 'Aye, I have something for you to do, <playername>.' Clive says 'In Caemlyn there is an inn run by a portly man called Basel Gill. Find him and ask him how to rent.' Clive says 'That's all for now, but check back with me as you gain more experience and I will likely have something new for you.' |
Quest Guide[]
Basil Gill can be found on the second floor of The Queen's Blessing, in the room 'Reception of the Queen's Blessing'. This is located 1n, 2w, 1s, 1u from Caemlyn Central Square. Saying 'rent' in his room will cause him to go through a short dialogue where he explains the basic renting process.
Once he finishes speaking, Basil will give the player a plate of yellow peppers and pork and send them back to Clive to finish the quest.

You say 'rent' Basel Gill says 'Ahhh yes, this renting business can be tricky to newcomers.' Basel Gill frowns. Basel Gill says 'Lets see. There are a few basic commands for you to know - offer, list, deposit, withdraw, rent, and quit.' Basel Gill says 'Quit will work anywhere but you will be logged off and none of your equipment will be saved, so it is definitely best to rent.' Basel Gill says 'Only certain fine establishments (such as this one!) will allow you to rent. Nearly all cities have at least one.' Basel Gill says 'Once you find it, you can "offer" to see how much it will cost, "list", "deposit", or "withdraw" to deal with storage, or "rent" to save your eq and sign off.' Basel Gill says '"List" will give you a view of what items you have stored at that particular inn, "deposit" allows you to add items, and "withdraw" allows you to take them out of storage.' Basel Gill says 'Did that old goose Clive send you here?? If so, give him this - he has an unhealthy obsession with these. Be sure to "give plate Clive".' Basel Gill gives you a plate of yellow peppers and pork. |
Completion[]
Giving Clive the plate of food will cause him to explain the differences between 'renting' and 'quitting' out of the game. He will also give the player a purse containing 21 gold crowns so that they can rent when they are finished. Additionally, Clive will explain how banking works and the location of the Caemlyn bank.
If you happen to lose (or eat!) the plate of peppers and pork then you can return to Basil and trigger his mobol for a new one.

give plate clive You give a plate of yellow peppers and pork to Clive. Clive grins at you. Clive says 'These dinners are undoubtably the best thing I have ever consumed! I'd share with you but I don't think your palate could fully appreciate it.' Clive tastes a little bit of a plate of yellow peppers and pork. Clive says 'Anyways, I trust you met my old crazed friend, Basel? Don't ever let him swindle you into a game of stones. He cheats.' Clive says 'Renting is a very important part of the game, as it saves your equipment and place for you.' Clive tastes a little bit of a plate of yellow peppers and pork. Clive says 'When you "quit" rather than "rent", you lose all of your items and equipment - they fall to the ground as you sign off and anyone can pick them up.' Clive says 'However, renting costs money. And since there is no such thing as a free lunch, I will give you some more gold to get you started!' Clive glances around before stuffing the rest of the food into his mouth. Clive hastily wipes his greasy hands on his pants then tosses you a clinking purse. Clive puts some coins in a small purse. Clive gives you a small purse. Clive says 'Now. That's a chunk of gold that you don't want to lose. So what do you do? You find a banker!' Clive says 'There is one right next to Caemlyn's Central Square - find him and you can do a couple things: deposit, withdraw, and balance.' Clive says '"Balance" will give you your current account balance, while "deposit" and "withdraw" will add or subtract to your account from the coins you have on you.' Clive says 'It is important to note that the bankers deal in copper and each gold crown equals twenty copper.' Clive says 'So if you have two crowns and want to deposit it all, you would "deposit 40". See? Ok, good, now go store that gold!' |
