Orchard's Edge The neat rows of apple trees are just beyond reach on the other side of the fence. Windfalls litter the ground bruised and rotting. A rare find among them is a fresh apple, bright red and ready to eat. The road to the south can barely be seen beyond the shrubs and plants. Buzzing comes from a bee hive that stands on a small wooden platform. [ obvious exits: E S ]

You stuff some tabac into the pipe and light it.
Smoke rises from a pipe held by Calvin.
Calvin gently blows the smoke into the beehive.
As you blow smoke into the hive the bees calm down.
The buzzing of the bees quietens.
You can now open the hive.

Bees swarm around Calvin's head.

You can now press the honeycomb to separate honey from beeswax.

Calvin turns the wing nut, pressing the honey from the honeycomb.

A sticky fluid collects at the bottom of the press and golden honey drips into a vial.
You open the press and scrape the beeswax from the bottom.
Calvin puts sticky beeswax into a cast iron cooking pot.
You can now heat the beeswax to purify it.

Calvin scrapes the grime off the bottom of the wax.
You put the wax back in the pot for reheating.
The wax melts and slowly turns into a fluid.

Calvin grabs a cast iron cooking pot and sieves its contents through some thin cloth.

You can now make a candle by pouring the wax into a mould with a wick.
