When successfully used on the target, Deafen causes them to be unable to hear spoken communication (says), tells, narrates, or chats. Although this result can be partially bypassed through the use of emotes, this form of "communication" can only be used with allies in the same room.

Deafen is relatively easy to weave successfully upon a target, player or mob, that is lower in level. However, it is possible that this weave cannot be successfully woven upon a target of equal or higher level.^Verify?
