When a player dies in WotMUD they are immediately transported to their respective Circle. Wotmud does not feature permanent character death (permadeath) and the consequences of death are temporary and dependent upon the manner in which the player dies.
Ways to Die[]
Playerkilling[]
When a player is killed by another player (the final blow or spell resulting in the characters death is delivered by another player), the victim is moved to their respective Circle. The victim loses 25% of the experience difference between their current and previous level, 20% of their turn points if the opponent is of an opposing raceVerify, and they must remain in (cannot exit) their circle for 16Verify in game tics. The victim's hit points and movement points are set at critical and haggardExact amounts?. In the room in which the victim died, a corpse is created containing the players equipment. Other players, including the victim's killer may loot the victim's equipment and potentially the victim's equipment may be recovered by allied players or returned by the victim's killer.
Mob Death[]
When a player is killed by a mob (the final blow or spelling resulting in the character's death is delivered by a mob), the victim is moved to their respective Circle. The victim loses all of the experience difference between their current and previous level.
Incap death[]
When a player dies naturally while incapacitated (no final blow by player or mob), the victim loses 20% of the experience difference between their current and previous level.
Drowning[]
Death by drowning is similar to death by deathtrap. The player is transported to their respective circle and their hitpoints and movement points are set to critical and haggard. The player's corpse is not available for recovery and therefore their equipment is irrevocably lost. The player is free to leave their Circle once they have sufficient movement points to leave.
Deathtrap[]
When a player enters a Deathtrap and does not receive a "saving roll" they immediately suffer death and are moved to their respective Circle. Their equipment is irretrievably lost. The player's hitpoints and movement points are set to critical and haggard and the player may leave the Circle once they have sufficient movement points to leave.
