This article is about the defensive statistic. For other uses, see Parry.

Parry bonus (PB) is a defensive bonus which is similar to dodge bonus (DB), with some notable differences, however.

A character's parry bonus is a rating of his ability to parry or deflect attacks completely without taking any damage. Unlike dodge bonus, parry bonus is split when fighting multiple enemies. On the other hand, parry bonus is lowered much less when bashed than dodge bonus is.

Parry bonus suffers a lesser penalty from encumbrance due to worn/carried weight than dodge bonus, but more than offensive bonus.

A character's naked parry bonus is a function of their level and mood. Parry bonus can be significantly increased by equipping a shield (if using a 1-handed weapon and practicing Shield parry, a Warrior skill which depends on the dexterity (Dex) of the char.

Many weapons also give parry bonus, the amount of which depends on the practice% in the chosen weapon class as well as the character's strength (Str). Two-handed weapons have a large PB and are suitable for characters with high Str, while 1-handed weapons are more useful when used with a shield by characters with high Dex.

Unlike dodge bonus, a character's mood impacts not only their naked PB, but the PB gained from shields, weapons, armor, and trinkets.

Parry bonus can be increased with various pieces of armor and trinkets.
