Portal Stones are ancient artifacts that can be used to travel long distances, and to other worlds. They require the use of the One Power to activate, and are very dangerous to channelers due to the amount of Power they draw. An inexperienced user can burn themselves out by channeling near a Portal Stone, permanently losing the ability to channel.

Usage[]

Channeling any weave while in the same room as a stone column will, instead of performing that weave, consume 144 SP and transport the channeler and any followers to another Portal Stone, chosen randomly. Upon arrival, the user will be stunned and unable to perform any commands for a period, similar to being bashed. The channeler have very few remaining SP upon arriving at the next stone, so channeling again without leaving the room or regenerating will burn the channeler out. Holding an angreal does not reduce the SP cost of using a stone, and will not protect the channeler against overchanneling or burn out.

The new portal stone system allows non-channelers to operate them through use of a smooth metallic disc. You can insert disc into the portal stone, then touch the different symbols to travel.
