Shadoweyes:Quest is the second of four quests offered by Ross, a quest giver in the village of Glancor.
Quest Summary
Ross wants the player to learn about the spys of the dark one. He asks you to bring him the scalp of a raven or rat.
When the player returns with the scalp they are rewarded with a choice of leg armor
Starting the Quest
Ross will greet a player when they enter the room, assuming that their level is not too high for his quests. Saying 'quest' will result in Ross providing an explanation of your current task.

You say 'quest' Ross says 'Hrmph. I have just the task for you, <playername>. Darn youngsters these days don't have enough fear of the Dark One in them!' Ross says 'I'm sick of seeing rats and ravens roam freely. These shadoweyes report to any myrddraal or dreadlords nearby and get people killed, <playername>.' Ross says 'The pesky rats hide so they aren't noticed - go see Vatrin and ask her about notice so you can hone your observation skills. Then bring me the scalp of a rat or raven.' Ross says 'The darned ravens tend to fly out of reach, but you can sometimes walk indoors and they will follow you. Then, if you try a lot, you can eventually kill them.' Ross says 'You can only do each task once unless otherwise specified, mind you. Each time you complete a quest, a new one will be available so be sure to keep asking for quests!' Ross says 'From levels seven through eleven, you may give me the scalp of a coyote for the bounty of two crowns. You may do this as many times as you wish.' |
Quest Guide
When starting this quest you may already have a scalp handy as the Caemlyn town crier has a quest for them. If not you will need to find a rat or raven, though rats are typically easier to kill. Rats are typically hidden and you won't be able to see them with out using the notice skill. As you may not have this practiced yet the best way is to roam around a little hoping to get a rat to follow you, then heading to a town square. Most town squares are what is called a no hide room, this means the rat (and other players) won't be able to hide and you can easily see and kill them.
There are other rooms that are no hide rooms and these can be learned through experimenting with the hide command in different rooms.
Completion
Give Ross the scalp and he will then go over how shadoweyes report to darkside and darkfriends. He will also explain hidden items and how to search for them.
You will then have the choice of which of two leg armors you wish to receive: Abs + Combo or Dodge

give scalp Ross You give the death scalp of a rat slain in the Hills of Kintara to Ross. Ross grimaces in disgust. Ross says 'Good riddance! Well done <playername> - we should always be alert for the spies of the Shadow and vanquish them as we find them.' Ross says 'These little infestations report to their superiors if they happen to be nearby and they tell them what they see.' Ross says 'Nasty business, that. Better off avoided, says I. Well, at least you learned about the notice skill in the process so now you can be on your guard.' Ross says 'If you see a hidden item in a room, you can get it by searching for it. For example, "search dagger" if you notice a dagger hidden.' Ross says 'Okay, on to the reward! What'll it be: are you an abser, comboer, or dodger? Just say which one and I'll give you an appropriate reward.' say comboer You say 'comboer' Ross gives you a set of oiled chainmail leggings. Ross stops using a cane. Ross says 'These'll serve you well, <playername>. Save your life, even!' |
