I've added something else into the forums to "calm" the temperature down, taking away any info regarding the lengths of threads and # of responses from all except mods, supermods and admins. Since large threads usually descend into flaming, unpleasantness and "banwaggoning", the theory goes that by making the large threads less obvious, there will be less of that.
This maybe a step too far, we'll see how it goes. Please add any feedback to the "Ongoing forum changes discussions" thread in the general forum, new threads will be deleted.
