Somewhere in Tar Valon...
Dust motes shimmered in the light of the mirrored lamps that lit up this part of the Restricted Section the Tower library. Saerin Sedai sighed as she reached the final page of another book. She had been on the hunt for a specific ter'angreal for years and the list of books she could peruse was getting thinner. The ter'angreal in question, a highly reflective crystal spike, would obscure a large area from view, from locating with the One Power and it was reported to also thwart Shadoweyes. Obviously, such an object would be very useful when raiding deep into the Blight.
The ter'angreal had its origins in the Age of Legends and she had already read many tomes pertaining to that time and the items that were in use back then. However, any tome from the Age of Legends would list nothing of the item's current whereabouts.
Saerin closed the tome and as she did, a sheet of parchment seemingly got loose from its bindings and floated to the floor. Saerin bent down to pick it up, then froze momentarily. She snatched up the parchment and began to read hurriedly. Before her, lay an inventory of the High Queen Egoridin's possessions. Among the items listed was a "glass spike, mirroring the light". Could it be?
High Queen Egoridin was the ruler of Jaramide when the Compact of the Ten Nations was forged, when Queen Mabrian en Shereed, Aes Sedai, ruled Aramaelle. The time of Manetheren and Aridhol. When Tar Valon itself was only about a century old. Thoughts and facts raced through Saerin's mind. Suddenly she leapt to her feet and started moving towards the libary proper, off to set up a search for the item in question.
The fight was fierce and both sides suffered great losses. Coulin was carried from Maradon severely bleeding and only barely alive.
The fighting raged and fireballs and ice spikes flew from one side to the other. One such fireball veered off course and destroyed part of the palace. Unfortunately, it destroyed that part of the palace in which Jaeiryoz was seeking information on the dreadlord-gone-rogue and the same place in which items from the High Queen Egoridin were still kept. It is believed that the collapse destroyed the storeroom in question and they may be lost for all time.
Or are they...?
