The captain of the Steadfast eyed the horizon confidently, his booted feet set firmly upon the deck planking. His crew shimmied through the tide riggings readying the sails for lowering, each one of them sure-footed on the narrow beams and ropes that tied the ship together as surely as arteries in a human body. Satisfied that all was in order, he raised his spyglass to his good eye and swept the docks with his improved view.
A torm and its rider was lumbering along the shoreline away from the docks, and a sul'dam and damane walked sedately to take in the ocean air. The small outpost looked orderly and clean, a welcome sign of the Corenne taking hold in the lands rightfully theirs.
The ship was welcomed to port by an escort of dolphins who skimmed through the surface water with the grace of dancers. A good sign, that.
With a smile teasing his lips, the captain shouted orders to bring the ship to port and made fast along the quay. Two bells signalled a successful docking, the gangplank was lowered, and the captain was honored to be the first off the Steadfast.
