say which items light long blade
You say 'which items light long blade'
A weaponsmith says 'You do need a few items to make a light long sword, yes.'
A weaponsmith says 'Just a second please, just offloading any surplus gear...'
A weaponsmith says 'You will need a bar of iron, a hammer and some leather straps.'
A weaponsmith says 'When you are ready to start smithing, bring me the straps.'
A weaponsmith says 'Show it to me so I can check the quality.'
A weaponsmith says 'When you have everything start with reheating the iron.'
A weaponsmith says 'When the iron is red hot, take it to the anvil and hammer it into the shape of a light blade.'
A weaponsmith says 'Reheat the blade and make a shallow indentation along the length of both broad sides of the blade.'
A weaponsmith says 'Cool off the blade in a barrel of water.'
A weaponsmith says 'Reheat again and hammer at the edges so they become more narrow.'
A weaponsmith says 'Finally, cool off again and you can start with attaching the guard and hilt.'
A weaponsmith says 'Slide the guard and hilt over the flat end of the metal hilt and rivet it in place.'
A weaponsmith says 'Carefully file the heads off the rivets.'
A weaponsmith says 'Once you have finished your masterpiece I will ask you for a letter of rights for using my forge.'
Show straps weaponsmith
You show a knot of leather straps to a weaponsmith.
A weaponsmith says 'Ah good, good.'
A weaponsmith says 'Go ahead, and start smithing.'
Reheat iron
Ok.
You drop a bar of iron.
You place the iron on the coals.
A bar of iron starts glowing red.
Using a pair of tongs you take a red hot bar of iron from the forge.
You carefully place the hot iron on the anvil.
You grab a hammer.
Sparks fly as Alayla hammers the red hot iron.
A loud metallic sound rings through the area as metal meets metal.
You reheat a blade so it turns a glowing red.
You can now make an indentation along the length of the blade.
Make indentation
Ok.
You carefully hammer along the length of the blade, making a rounded indentation.
The sound of hammering rings in the air.
You turn the blade and clop a curved indentation on the other side of the blade.
A loud clanging reverberates through the smithy.
You place the hot blade in a barrel of water.
Steam billows up towards the ceiling.
You lift the blade and dry it, then place it into the fire again.
You take the blade from the fire and start hammering at the edges.
You carefully hammer the edges on both sides of the blade.
The blade is now symmetrical in shape.
You place the blade into the barrel.
With a loud hiss the steel cools down.
You can now attach the guard and hilt.
Attach guard hilt
Ok.
You slide the guard over the back end of the blade and against the blade.
You grab a hilt and slide it across the base until it fits snuggly against the guard.
You take a hammer and tiny rivets and carefully clop the rivets through the hilt.
You grab a file and carefully remove the sharp heads from the rivets.
You sharpen the blade and put it in the barrel to wash the wire edges off.
You drop a knot of leather straps.
You grab a strap of leather and wind it around the hilt.
You get a light long sword from a barrel and prop it up against the wall.
A weaponsmith says 'You can drop a letter of rights on that stool there, and I will give you the weapon.'
Drop paper
You drop a slim roll of paper.
A weaponsmith says 'Excellent job, Alayla. Well done!'
Get sword
You get an ivory and gold-hilted longsword.
